Sharing and permissions
Share dashboards with teammates, control who can view or edit, and manage access by user or team.
Dashboards are private by default. Only you can see a dashboard you create until you share it. Genuics gives you fine-grained control over who can see and who can edit each dashboard.
Share a dashboard
- Open the dashboard you want to share.
- Click the Share button in the toolbar.
- The Share Dashboard modal opens, showing the current access list.
- Search for a user by name or email, or select a team from the dropdown.
- Choose the access level - Viewer or Editor.
- Click Add. The person or team now appears in the access list.
- Close the modal. The dashboard is now visible to the people you shared it with.
Access levels
There are two access levels for shared dashboards:
Viewer
Viewers can:
- See the dashboard and all its widgets
- Interact with filters, date ranges, and click-to-filter
- Drill down into data points
- Export the dashboard (PDF, PNG, Excel, CSV)
Viewers cannot:
- Add, edit, or delete widgets
- Change dashboard settings (name, colors, grid layout)
- Share the dashboard with others
- Delete the dashboard
Editor
Editors can do everything a Viewer can, plus:
- Add, edit, and delete widgets
- Rearrange the widget layout
- Change dashboard settings
- Share the dashboard with additional people
Share with teams
If your organization has teams set up (e.g., "Marketing", "Customer Success", "Product"), you can share a dashboard with an entire team at once.
- In the Share Dashboard modal, click the Teams tab or search for the team name.
- Select the team and choose Viewer or Editor access.
- Click Add.
When you share with a team:
- Every current member of the team gets access immediately.
- New members added to the team in the future get access automatically.
- Members removed from the team lose access automatically.
This is the most efficient way to manage dashboard access at scale. Instead of adding people one by one, share with the team and let team membership handle the rest.
Dashboard visibility and Lines of Business
In organizations with multiple Lines of Business (LoBs), dashboard visibility also depends on LoB assignment. Users only see dashboards that belong to their assigned LoB or dashboards that are shared organization-wide.
If you can't find a dashboard that someone shared with you, check with your admin to confirm you're assigned to the correct LoB.
Changing or revoking access
- Open the Share Dashboard modal.
- Find the user or team in the access list.
- To change their level, click the access dropdown next to their name and switch between Viewer and Editor.
- To remove access entirely, click the Remove button (trash icon) next to their name.
Who can see what
Here's a quick summary of the visibility rules:
| Scenario | Can see the dashboard? |
|---|---|
| You created it | Always |
| Shared with you directly (Viewer or Editor) | Yes |
| Shared with a team you belong to | Yes |
| Not shared, but you're in the same LoB | No - sharing is still required |
| You're an org admin | Yes - admins can see all dashboards |
| You're a super admin | Yes - super admins can see everything across all orgs |
