Exporting and sharing reports
Download, share, duplicate, or favorite your reports.
Once your report is built and producing the right results, you will want to get it into the hands of the people who need it. Genuics gives you several ways to export, share, and organize your reports.
Exporting a report
You can download your report data as a file at any time.
Open the report you want to export and make sure results are loaded (click Run Report if needed).
Click the Export button (download icon) in the report toolbar. The export modal opens.
Choose your format:
- Excel (.xlsx) -- includes column headers, formatting, and subtotal rows. Best for analysis and further manipulation.
- PDF -- a clean, paginated document ready for printing or attaching to emails.
- CSV -- raw comma-separated values. Lightweight, universal, and easy to import into other tools.
Click Download. The file is generated and downloaded to your computer.
Which format should you choose?
| Format | Best for | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Excel | Analysts, finance teams, anyone who needs to sort or filter | Preserves column types and subtotals |
| Executives, meeting handouts, audit trails | Fixed layout, not editable | |
| CSV | Data pipelines, importing into other tools | No formatting, smallest file size |
Sharing a report
Sharing lets other people in your organization view or edit the report directly in Genuics.
Open the report and click the Share button in the toolbar. The share modal appears.
Search for a user or team by name and add them to the access list.
Set their permission level:
- Viewer -- can open and run the report, but cannot change its configuration.
- Editor -- can modify columns, filters, grouping, and all other settings.
Click Save. The report is now visible to those users on their Reports page.
When you share a report, it appears under the Shared quick-filter on the Reports page for those users. Viewers see a read-only version; editors see the full builder.
Duplicating a report
If you want to create a variation of an existing report -- say, the same structure but for a different time period or dataset -- duplicating is faster than starting from scratch.
Open the report you want to copy.
Click the settings dropdown (gear icon) in the toolbar and select Duplicate.
Genuics creates a new report named "Copy of [original name]" with all the same columns, filters, grouping, and settings.
Rename the duplicate and make any changes you need.
The duplicate is a completely independent report. Changes to the original do not affect the copy, and vice versa.
Favoriting a report
Click the star icon on any report card (or in the table row on the Reports page) to favorite it. Favorited reports:
- Float to the top of your report list so they are always easy to find.
- Appear when you use the Favorites quick-filter on the Reports page.
Favorites are personal -- other users do not see your favorites, and you do not see theirs.
Managing access and permissions
Only the report creator and users with Editor access can change a report's configuration or sharing settings. Organization admins can also manage reports across the workspace through role-based permissions.
If you no longer need to share a report, open the share modal and remove users or teams from the access list. The report becomes private again once all shared access is removed.
