Password and security

Reset your password, use SSO, and understand your organization's security policies.

Your account security in Genuics includes your password, optional SSO login, and organization-wide policies set by your admin. This article covers how to manage your password and understand the security features that protect your account.

Changing your password

You can request a password reset from your profile page at any time.

  1. Go to your Profile page by clicking your avatar in the sidebar.
  2. Scroll to the Security section.
  3. Click Change Password.
  4. Enter your current password for verification.
  5. Enter your new password. Choose something strong - at least 12 characters with a mix of letters, numbers, and symbols.
  6. Confirm the new password and click Save.

Your new password takes effect immediately. You'll stay signed in on your current session, but any other active sessions will be signed out.

Forgot your password

If you can't remember your password, you can reset it from the sign-in page.

  1. Go to the Genuics sign-in page.
  2. Click Forgot password? below the password field.
  3. Enter the email address associated with your Genuics account.
  4. Click Send Reset Link. Check your inbox for an email from Genuics.
  5. Click the reset link in the email. It opens a page where you can set a new password.
  6. Enter your new password, confirm it, and click Reset Password.

If you don't receive the reset email:

  • Check your spam or junk folder
  • Make sure you entered the correct email address
  • If your organization uses SSO, password reset may be disabled - see the SSO section below

Signing in with SSO

If your organization has configured Single Sign-On (SSO), you can sign in using your company's identity provider - Google, Microsoft, or Okta - instead of a Genuics-specific password.

  1. Go to the Genuics sign-in page.
  2. Click the SSO button for your provider (e.g., "Sign in with Google").
  3. You're redirected to your identity provider's sign-in page.
  4. Sign in with your company credentials.
  5. You're redirected back to Genuics, signed in.

When SSO is required

Your admin can configure the organization to require SSO. When this is active:

  • The email/password sign-in option is disabled for all non-admin users
  • You must use your identity provider to sign in
  • Password reset is not available (your password is managed by your identity provider)
  • Admins retain email/password access as a fallback for emergencies

If you're having trouble signing in with SSO, contact your IT team or organization admin to verify your identity provider account is set up correctly.

Organization security policies

Your organization's admin can enforce security policies that affect all members. These are configured in Setup > Organization > Security and apply regardless of your personal preferences.

Require two-factor authentication

When this policy is active, every user must have 2FA enabled. If you haven't set it up yet, you'll be prompted to do so the next time you sign in. You can't skip or postpone this step.

See Two-factor authentication for setup instructions.

Require SSO

When this policy is active, email/password sign-in is disabled. All users must authenticate through the organization's identity provider. This ensures that access is controlled centrally and benefits from your company's existing security measures (MFA, device policies, conditional access).

Session security

Genuics manages your session security automatically:

  • Session timeout: if you're inactive for an extended period, your session expires and you'll need to sign in again
  • Multiple sessions: you can be signed in on multiple devices simultaneously. Each session is independent.
  • Forced sign-out: if an admin changes your password (via "force password reset"), all your active sessions end and you'll need to sign in with the new password

Security best practices

  • Use a strong, unique password - don't reuse a password from another service
  • Enable 2FA - even if your organization doesn't require it, 2FA significantly reduces the risk of unauthorized access
  • Don't share your credentials - each person should have their own Genuics account. If a colleague needs access, ask your admin to invite them.
  • Sign out on shared devices - if you sign in on a public or shared computer, always sign out when you're done
  • Keep your authenticator app secure - if you use 2FA, protect your phone with a PIN, biometric lock, or both

Next steps

Set up 2FA for extra protection in Two-factor authentication. Admins can configure organization-wide security in Organization settings.
