Asking Geni questions

Open the Geni chat panel and ask questions about your data in plain English.

Geni is your built-in data assistant. Instead of building charts manually, you can ask Geni a question in plain English and get an instant analysis.

Open the Geni panel

While viewing a dashboard, look for the Geni panel on the right side. Click it to expand the chat interface. You'll see a text input with the placeholder "Ask about your data..."

Ask a question

Type your question naturally - the way you'd ask a colleague. For example:

  • "What's our average NPS this quarter?"
  • "Which region has the most support tickets?"
  • "What's driving the drop in satisfaction scores?"
  • "Compare promoters vs detractors by product line"
  • "Show me the trend for response volume over the last 6 months"

Press Enter to send. Geni analyzes your data and returns an answer, often with supporting numbers, comparisons, or suggestions.

Follow up

Geni remembers the context of your conversation. After getting an initial answer, you can follow up:

  • "Break that down by quarter"
  • "What about just the Enterprise segment?"
  • "Why do you think that happened?"

Each conversation is saved and linked to the dashboard you're viewing. You can start a new conversation at any time.

Act on Geni's suggestions

When Geni identifies something worth acting on, it may suggest creating an action. You'll see a button to create a pre-filled action directly from the chat - the name, description, and linked evidence are set up automatically.

Conversation history

Your previous conversations with Geni are saved. You can load a past conversation to review earlier analysis or continue where you left off.
