AI usage and limits

Understand how AI message quotas work across plans and how to track your usage.

Genuics uses AI for the Geni chat assistant and for deep comment analysis in the Insights engine. Your AI usage is tracked monthly and depends on your plan.

Each question you ask Geni counts as one or more AI messages, depending on complexity. Simple lookups use fewer messages than multi-step analyses.

What counts as an AI message?

  • Each Geni chat question uses 1-3 messages (depending on how many analytical tools Geni calls)
  • AI Insight generation - the core engine is deterministic and doesn't use AI messages. Only the optional deep comment mining pass uses messages
  • Follow-up questions in an existing Geni conversation use messages

Check your usage

  1. Go to Setup > Organization in the sidebar.
  2. Click the Usage tab.
  3. You'll see your current AI message usage as a progress bar, along with usage for users, datasets, and rows.

The usage counter resets monthly on your billing cycle date.

What happens when you hit the limit?

When you've used all your AI messages for the month:

  • Geni will let you know that you've reached your limit
  • AI-powered insight generation pauses until the next billing cycle
  • All other features (dashboards, reports, actions, workflows, etc.) continue working normally

Tips for efficient AI usage

  • Start with specific questions rather than broad ones - "What's the NPS trend for Enterprise customers in Q1?" is more efficient than "Tell me everything about my data"
  • Use dashboard filters to narrow context before asking Geni - this helps Geni focus on the right data and use fewer tool calls
  • For recurring analyses, build a dashboard or report instead of asking Geni the same question repeatedly
