Uploading your first dataset
Get data into Genuics by uploading a CSV file and mapping your columns.
Before you can build dashboards or reports, you need data in Genuics. The fastest way is to upload a CSV file. This guide walks you through the process step by step.
What you'll need
- A CSV file with your data (up to 50 MB and 200 columns)
- The file should have a header row with column names
Upload your file
- Click Datasets in the sidebar, then click Upload (or navigate directly to the upload page).
- Drag and drop your CSV file into the upload area, or click to browse your files.
- Genuics previews the first few rows so you can confirm the data looks right.
Map your columns
After the preview loads, you'll see the column mapping step. Genuics automatically infers each column's type, but you can adjust them:
| Type | What it means | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Metric | A number you want to measure or aggregate | Revenue, Score, Count |
| Dimension | A category you want to group or filter by | Region, Product, Status |
| Date | A timestamp or date value | Created At, Survey Date |
| Open-end | Free-text responses (used for themes and sentiment) | Comments, Feedback |
| ID | A unique identifier | Respondent ID, Ticket # |
Describe your dataset
Give your dataset a name that your team will recognize (e.g., "Q1 2026 Customer Feedback" or "Support Tickets - March").
Confirm and upload
- Review the column mappings and dataset name.
- Click Upload to start the import.
- Wait for the confirmation message - you'll see the number of rows successfully imported.
Once the upload finishes, Genuics begins processing your data in the background. If your dataset includes open-text fields, theme and sentiment analysis runs automatically.
Upload limits
Your row limits depend on your plan:
| Plan | Max rows (organization total) |
|---|---|
| Free | 500 |
| Starter | 50,000 |
| Pro | 500,000 |
| Enterprise | Unlimited |
The limit applies to total rows stored across all your datasets. To add more data to an existing dataset, use the Append Data option from the Datasets page.
