Building your first dashboard
Create a dashboard, add your first widget, and see your data come to life.
A dashboard is where your data becomes visual. You'll build one in under five minutes.
Create a dashboard
- Click Dashboards in the sidebar to open the dashboard browser.
- Click New Dashboard.
- Give your dashboard a name (e.g., "Customer Satisfaction Overview").
- Optionally pick an accent color and set the grid columns (the default works well for most layouts).
- Click Create. Your empty dashboard opens in a new tab.
Add your first widget
- Click the Add Widget button in the toolbar.
- Choose a chart type from the visualization menu. For your first widget, a Bar or Line chart is a great starting point.
- In the widget settings panel, select the dataset you uploaded earlier.
- Choose a metric (the number you want to measure - e.g., "NPS Score" or "Revenue").
- Choose a dimension (the category to group by - e.g., "Region" or "Product").
- Click Save. Your chart appears on the dashboard.
Arrange and resize
Widgets sit on a flexible grid. You can:
- Drag a widget by its title bar to move it
- Resize a widget by dragging its bottom-right corner
- Add more widgets and they'll snap into the grid layout
Interact with your data
Once your dashboard has a few widgets, try these interactive features:
- Click a chart element (like a bar segment) to instantly filter the entire dashboard to that value
- Open the date range picker in the toolbar to change the time period
- Right-click a data point to see options like "Drill down" or "Create action"
Save and share
Your dashboard saves automatically as you make changes. If you want others on your team to see it, click the Share button to grant viewer or editor access to specific people or teams.
Next steps
Now that you have a dashboard, consider:
- Adding more widgets to tell a complete story
- Using filters to focus on what matters
- Inviting your team so they can see the dashboards too
