Navigating the interface
Learn the sidebar, dashboard tabs, toolbar, and how to find your way around.
Genuics is organized around a sidebar on the left and a tabbed workspace on the right. Here's a quick tour of the key areas.
The sidebar
The sidebar is your main navigation. It has two sections:
Main sections
- Home - opens your default dashboard
- Dashboards - browse all dashboards you have access to
- Reports - view and create tabular reports
- Actions - see all follow-up tasks and their statuses
- Datasets - manage your uploaded data
Setup (admin only)
If you have admin permissions, you'll also see a Setup section with:
- User Management - Users, Teams, Roles & Permissions
- Configuration - Actions (status/category setup), Email Templates, Connectors, Workflows
- Organization - General settings, Plans & Billing, Usage, Security, Audit Log
You can collapse the sidebar by clicking the collapse button at the bottom to give your dashboard more room.
Dashboard tabs
When you open a dashboard, report, or action, it appears as a tab at the top of the workspace. You can have multiple tabs open at once and switch between them - similar to browser tabs.
Your open tabs persist between sessions, so when you come back tomorrow, the same dashboards will be waiting for you.
The toolbar
When viewing a dashboard, the toolbar appears above your widgets. It gives you quick access to:
- Add Widget - add a new chart or visualization
- Date range picker - filter all widgets by a time period
- Filter panel - open the advanced filter builder
- Dashboard settings - rename, change colors, manage sharing
- Export - download the dashboard as PDF, PNG, Excel, or CSV
Switching between organizations
If you belong to multiple organizations, you can switch between them. Your active organization determines which data, dashboards, and settings you see. The URL includes your organization slug (e.g., /o/your-company/dashboard), so bookmarks always take you to the right workspace.
Keyboard and shortcuts
Genuics is designed to be used with a mouse, but the interface respects standard keyboard navigation - you can tab through controls, use Enter to confirm actions, and Escape to close modals and panels.
Next steps
Now that you know your way around, it's time to get some data in. Head to Uploading your first dataset.
